DJI Announces 360-Degree Action Camera

Ana sayfa / News

DJI has introduced its first 360-degree action camera, the Osmo 360. With this new model, the company directly competes with the Insta360 X5 and the soon-to-be-refreshed GoPro Max. The Osmo 360 can record video at 50 frames per second at 8K resolution. This feature surpasses the X5’s 30 frames per second limit. DJI’s camera is also approximately 20 grams lighter and has a smaller body size compared to the X5.

The device does not offer interchangeable lens support. However, unlike previous models, DJI’s preferred 1-inch square HDR sensors are fully active. While the 1/1.28-inch rectangular sensors used in the X5 are only partially used, the Osmo 360’s sensors are fully active.

This keeps the device’s size unnecessarily small, and its 183-gram weight provides an advantage in terms of portability. On the video side, 10-bit recording support is offered. This feature is particularly important for post-production processes. However, the Insta360 X5 only supports 8-bit.

The Osmo 360, with a 1,950 mAh battery, falls short of the X5’s 2,400 mAh battery in this area. However, DJI states that it can record continuously for up to 100 minutes at 8K/30fps. When the resolution is reduced to 6K, video can be recorded at 60 frames per second, and at 4K at 100 frames per second.

For slow motion, the device can reach 120 frames per second with a single lens. This feature is disabled with dual lenses. However, switching between the two lenses does not require stopping recording.

On the photo side, it can capture 360-degree photos at 120 megapixels, significantly higher than the X5’s 72 megapixel resolution. However, when HDR mode is engaged, the resolution drops to 30 megapixels.

Other notable features of the device include remote control via voice commands and hand gestures. DJI’s HorizonSteady and RockSteady image stabilization technologies are also available on this model. People, vehicles, or animals can be automatically tracked and constantly kept in focus during video recording via the DJI Mimo app.

The Osmo 360 offers 105 GB of internal storage. By connecting to two DJI wireless microphones simultaneously, it can record on two separate audio channels without the need for a receiver. Optional accessories include a Battery Extension Rod, which can extend the battery life by an additional 180 minutes, lens protection equipment, and tripod-compatible selfie sticks that extend up to 2.5 meters.

The DJI Osmo 360, available in Europe, is priced at €480. The included Adventure Combo package also includes a multi-function battery case and selfie stick. This package is priced at €630.
